On the framing error, check your serial cable and connections. A loose plug can cause an intermittent problem like that.

On the SSR, swap it with another SSR and see if the problem goes along with the SSR or whether it stays with the channel.

If it's the SSR, then it may need a new opto or possibly resistor/triac combination on that channel.

If it's the channel, check the RJ45 plugs and wires to make sure there's nothing loose there. Then create a channel test sequence using your normal plugin settings, and turn on only the problem channels, then turn it on for 3 seconds, then off for 3 seconds, etc. and see it it's controllable. If it works intermittently again, try a different cat5 cable (or swap it with a channel that's working).

If swapping the cable works, then the problem is your cable or one or both connectors. If swapping the cable has no effect, then it's likely the grinch. Try swapping two of the IC's on the Grinch. (be sure it's powered off!!!)

If the problem moves to a new channel with the chip, then you've got a bad chip.

Diagnosing something like this is a process of elimination. Don't change too many things all at once -- make one change and test. If no difference, then make another change and repeat, etc.

Also, on the framing error, check that the baudrate is the same in Renard plugin in Vixen as what you programmed into the Ren-C. Also, you need to fix the framing error first. It indicates some sort of communication error, and that means that troubleshooting any SSR problem is probably pointless.
