On the "in" side of the 8 rj45 jacks (a,b,e,f,i,j,m,n) why is it that (a,e,i,m) have a 9 pin holes and the jacks only have 8 am i missing sonething or is that not important. if you look here in wiki you can see it as well

Looks to just be a via hole or something - the connectors only go in one way so you should be OK.

Yes, those are trace vias. They allow a trace to go from one side of the board to the other. Nothing goes in them, so just ignore them.

hey Chris,
don't feel bad about this one, when I first got mine, I was looking at it and thought there was an error, thinking "how could this be so, this is a mature product?"
It was only when I installed the connector that I realised they were vias. Nicely place in line with the connector pin holes.
