olsen 595 output help

ive built my first ever coop 595 and all leds are working fine

NOW. ive attached a led to a output using a 90ohm resistor and it flashes correctly , but when vixen is stopped the led is always lit (but not on the 595)

im having the same problem with my transistor switching

can anyone give me some ideas ect on switching DC (im in aus)

one whole 595 will be only used to switch 40ma per channel (58 channels)

the other will switch led light bars at 12v 400ma

ok got it working.

silly me didnt notice that the outputs on the coop board sink to ground. Well i now have 8 channels working perfectly with relays (already had some relays)

now. if someone could explain how to switch using a transistor it would be very handy. I can do it using the olsens 5v , but i want to use a seperate power supply (not going thru the olsens 2803a)

Same thing. Just tie the grounds together and connect the plus power of the new supply to the same place instead of the Olsen’s 5 volts. If your still using 5 volts , then nothing else changes.
