For the past 3 years on Planet Christmas, I've done a 'Mike's list of songs to sequence'. It's off the wall stuff - No TSO, Mannheim, or any of that to be found. You probably haven't heard of 75% of the songs - and since there is no accounting for taste, you probably wouldn't want to do more than 10% of them. :p

You can listen to all my picks here:
Music Suggestions (http://www.landolights.com/main/component/option,com_wrapper/Itemid,68/)

One of the songs I personally selected for my 2009 show is 'Fifty Kilowatt Tree' by 'The Bobs'. I just completed the sequence for it. Highlights: 2 house setup (1 32 channel, the other approx 128), 34 channel mega tree, 11 channels of chasing mini trees, and 12 channels of chasing candy canes/pathway.

The Vixen downloads on my site have been pretty popular. Some of the files have been downloaded more than 100 times, and all told around 3000 downloads have been made. Yet, NOT A SINGLE SEQUENCE HAS BEEN UPLOADED.

To try to change that, I will send my 2009 Fifty Kilowatt Tree sequence to anyone who uploads a sequence. After the season I will put it in the downloads, but until then the only way to get it is to upload something.

To upload a sequence, or 10 :D, just zip each one up and use the button on my site. Be sure to flatten the profile into the sequence (or include it). I prefer if you include the music but if you don't want to send it that is NOT a problem. If you have an adjustable preview profile, include it too!

After you have uploaded eMail (or PM me) your eMail address and I will send you the Fifty Kilowatt Tree files.

I'm just guessing based on my own experience, but I suspect that many of the downloaders are like me. I know so little of sequencing that I have nothing to offer to upload. Maybe someday. I have to struggle just to make changes to what I download just to try to fit it to my own layout. I do appreciate those that make their sequences available since they give me something to start with and ideas to think about. I have some technical skills, but am musically challenged when it comes to sequencing.

Jim,

Don't feel badly! We all start out that way. I started here not quite a year ago and had nothing to offer, either. Now I'm pretty sure everybody would wish I'd just go away!

We all contribute through our postings, sharing our thoughts, sometimes just best wishes for a happy birthday, or by making note of something that doesn't seem "just right." In so doing, we often help each other catch and eliminate problems before they ever start.

So keep going and keep logging in!

i wish the sequences listing showed who the author was and didn't show every sequence as coming via admin. It would also be nice to have a reference to number of channels and what version of Vixen was used. A profile and hopefully an adjustable preview or a link to an online video would also be good. I know that is more work, but after downloading sequences from a lot of sources and trying to get them to work so I can see if they might be helpful to get me started, I have gotten very frustrated bringing them up and then just getting a blank sequence.

Most of them show Admin since it was ME (the admin) who uploaded most of them... (Or more correctly, converted them from Animation Director sequences and then uploaded them). The few NOT uploaded by me show the other persons name. Check the 'File Author' field.

Vixen 2.0/2.1 and Vixen 2.5 both have separate sections, so they are sorted by version. Not that anyone has uploaded any 2.5 sequences.

Since most of the sequences are conversions from Animation Director, there isn't an Adjustable Preview available. I do ask that one be uploaded, as well as a video if available. Some of them have video links, but I can only ask for them. Would you rather have a new sequence without a video/adjustable preview, or me to deny them because someone didn't include it?

At least 10 people have complained about not knowing the number of channels before downloading. Every time I email the person back 'Let me know how many channels the ones you downloaded were, and I'll update the sequences'. Total number of replies? 0. So..... I'll ask you the same thing: Go back through the sequences you did download, and eMail me the number of channels in each. I'll update them manually.

And ANOTHER senior moment... I just figured out that I approved 3 Vixen 2.5 sequences, and they were incorrectly placed in the 'Animation Director' section. I moved them.

So there are 3 Vix 2.5, not 0.
