I am not fond of the files being split in different locations. I would prefer all files stay in one directory or at least have the ability to specify where things should be saved. I can do it with sequence data but not with profiles. Currently I can have Vixen in one spot, music files in another, sequences in yet another and profiles in a 4th.

I use 2.5 and must agree with Macrosill. Having files in the new and older versions is a pain. On the plus side, 2.5 has been rock solid for me: I develop on Windows 7 and then move them to my laptop running Windows XP.

I have just started playing with 2.5. The only things I can bring up.
Another point on the directory issue is I use one login on my computers and my boys have there own. They help with the sequencing and since the vixen profiles are in the user profile this causes an issue.
The other is the check boxes are not in the test channel dialog. The space bar no longer turns channels on and off only mouse clicks. Unless I messed something.
All are easy to work around just bringing them up. I see no reason so far not to use it this year.
Thanks as always KC for a superior program at a superior price.... :)

I've been using 2.5 for about 2 weeks, and I upgraded to the latest last night.
Here are my observations:
The migration from 2.1 was simple and straightforward, as always.
I agree with Macrosill. The different locations are somewhat of a pain.
I'm using the Adjustable preview and Renard Dimmer for Plugins.
I've successfully used the watt meter, and copied its info over from sequence to sequence.
I do have an occasional problem when playing a sequence where I can't stop the sequence using F8.
I also get an occasional error (which I can't remember) when I stop a sequence. I'll write it down the next time it occurs.

OK, I'll get the attached message occasionally when stopping a sequence (F8).
Also, since my last post, the Adjustable Preview has locked up twice while playing, and not allowing me to stop or pause execution. I have to wait until the song finishes and then Vixen will come back after the preview closes. At that point, I can't run the sequence again. Therefore I have to close and re-open Vixen.

[QUOTE=tlorek;81370]OK, I'll get the attached message occasionally when stopping a sequence (F8).

I receive this sometimes in v 2.1.3.0(maybe it'll help to know that)
I have had a similar occurence. In my case I think it was due to the DMX pro plugin being enabled and the dongle not being plugged in, or the dongle is on a different port. (I have been sequencing and swapping between two computers that have different com port assignments).

In my testing of 2.5, I too get the error when I try and stop a sequence before it has completed the song. Same message as tlorek. Haven't tried the other features yet.

I made a note of one of my channels not accepting a ramp on or off. The only way to get the channel working was to create the ramp in another channel and opaque past it in. The channels I am using are my beat track channels.
Also,
I have a odd performance issue when playing a song section. The cursor that follows the music will be erratic the first time I play that section. After that, it works okay. I just play them all twice as a work around.

I have a couple of reproducible behaviors.
Remote Client calls the DMXUSBPro plugin twice when running a sequence this causes the COM port error (InvalidAccess) because it is already open. This will happen no matter how you attach the plugin to the sequence with a profile/directly or explicitly in preferences\Remote execution. I dumped the source for the plugin and wrapped the serial port in a Singleton (I know that this is not the best solution). It worked fine on one machine then I moved to another and was getting an error in the Router not finding a key in the dictionary. I would like to do further work on this, I just need the “Query class” source file for Vixen since Reflector didn’t export it cleanly and I don’t want to re-write it. Then I can break and step through to really see what is happening.
Program that has a script sequence in it won’t continue to run after the first script is run.
Ie. Standard Sequence followed by a script, the sequence runs the script does not.
Script followed by a Sequence the same behavior.
Vixen.Server chooses what IP to listen on by the first address it gets from the call Dns.GetHostAddresses(this.m_hostName). This causes a problem on systems that have multiple interfaces. Attempted to use IPAddress.Any but there were some issues with how the RemoteClient was handling it.
I also have a trigger issue that I never really pursued in this post. http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8143
After I get Halloween up and running and I get some time I’ll work on getting more details and possibly a solution to these things.

the first problem was vista 64, the second was on a xp(sp3)(same machine just uninstalled vista) simple595 would output all channels backwards on is off ect.. olsen595 works ok (was reported on bugzilla). third just reported on bugzilla was a triggerresponse.dll error prior to starting vixen using a k8055 for triggers. and trying to setup a trigger response it wont give me a line drop box and when i click ok it tells me all boxes need to be used.
