Been playing with different effects and got going on this chasing "dancing" candy canes.
Sequence no where near done. Need eaves, stars, and Santa in top right corner all properly sequenced.
Just thought I would share this little tibit.
Music is Jingle Bells by Crazy Frog. Downloaded from Walmart.com for 88 cents.
file is compressed and NO music file included Sorry
thinking what would it look like if I took 3 channels down each side of house(one straight and the other 2 crooked mirroring each other) doing kinda the same on the eves. then chase the channels so entire house LOOKS like it is dancing.
Might be interesting effect??
Doug, looks nice.
Do i see that correctly? your candy canes are 4 ch each?
I just purchased 18 candy canes from home depot for 6.99 for 3.
I'll be cutting up the cords, putting plugs on the individually, but they are just 1 ch each. I'll run a full 16 of them in the front yard somewhere.
My wife is on board, she saw the 16 pumpins in the yard and said "that is awesome, you are planning on having something in the front of the yard like this for Christmas too right?" My response ... "Well candy canes only cost $50". She said "you gotta buy them".
What more could you ask for :)

The candy canes are planed to have 5 channels per cane.
The present ones have just 1 string of lights in them.
Plan is to remove the light string from within, wrap on outside of cane a red string, clear string etc until I get 5 channels.
I may need to locate some shorter strings or cut the 50 string light sets I have then add a large resistor or maybe just a C7 bulb to take up the resistance loss due to cutting the strings. This depends on how well a 50 light string looks on the canes I purchased last year on Dec. 26.
You could build your own canes from wood.
The 3 stars and my MERRY CHRISTMAS sign were done this way. Just hot melt glue the lights to the painted wood.
If the wife is still there maybe i should mention the Santa in the top right corner. Have yet to work on sequencing him but I have 5 channels planned for him. One just for his pipe = A yellow C7 or C9 bulb or 2 might do the trick. Heis a blowmold I bought last year on Dec 26. Just need to cut him in half and start gluing lights inside.
Can't wait until Nov 15th or so . My target date for test firing my display. Then get the bugs out. Hopfully the weather will be nice.

xmus,
The candy canes you are referring to, I think they are made so 3 candy canes equal 50 lights. I may be wrong but if that is the case you can not just cut them apart and add plugs. The bulbs will burn out in a matter of minutes as the voltage across the bulbs will be too high.

Doug,
Is this a 1.1 sequence or a 2.0? I tried opening it in 2.0 and it locked up my machine.
Please, when posting sequences to share indicate which Version of Vixen they run in.

will try and remember next time. I tried 2.0 but tooo many minor problems w/ error messages. Using 1.11
please don't call the Vixen Police on me please!!!
LOL
now to figure out how many lights will fit on cane, cut and add resistor or C7 bulb??
lights are going on outside of cane. Canes are like posted above in stuffing lights into canes but I plan on 5 channels per cane
