Fast question for you guys.tricks board was working pulled power cord off and when i did the leads twisted and caused a short..any how i was wondering if you all knew which chip or chips went bad so i can order new ones..or how can i test the board for which ones..

I too had this simular thing happen to me.

First check the MM74HC4514s
then i found 1 blown allegro chip

I replaced all the chips just in case

I wonder if this isnt the same thing that happened to mine??? I wish they would put a lil bigger terminals on the boards for this reason. I had a problem with one of my 595's doing the same thing...

Something other than the 0.100 Molex style connector?

Maybe something closer to a regular household plug end would work for my chubby fingers!

I was thinking more like a plug for a hard drive seeing most of us use the computor as a source of power

Psst, Tell a you a secret .. I have been using the computer drive plugs all along. much easier and friendly. :)

Have a look at Frank's original 595s, they have Drive connectors too.

Might be time for a change next year, I'll ask the GRINCH community next year what changes they would like.

I'm talking about the pigtails as I wasn't very clear.
They work well. you can buy the ext cables with both ends on them cheap cut them in half and have both male and a female to use.

you could easily use a floppy connector on the grinch - just cut off the +12v and one of the ground pins and it should solder right on!
