I have Sequence and profile from someone else (posted this site for sharing). What is the best way to proceed in adapting it for my use with my profile? Do I modify my profile to the sequence or vice versa? Or is there a better way?

What I do is open both sequences up in vixen (dual monitors helps for this) and then copy and past each line to where I want it to go.
One would be the originl sequence, one would be the new sequence with your layout.
I do this from year to year as I make changes to my layout.

It will depend on whether you want to use the channels as-is, or combine/drop channels to make new ones.
If you are just using some or all of the channels as-is, copy and paste from one sequence to another would be easiest, or even just make changes directly to the foreign profile, to match what you want to do; that way all the channel values are still associated with the channels in the profile. If you are comfortable with XML, you could also just edit the .pro file directly with a text editor.
If you are trying to do something like combine multiple channels into fewer channels (for example, the foreign profile has, say, 10 props where you only have 5, and you want to preserve all the blinky-flashy), there are some functions in Vixen that let you "blend" channels together. You can copy + paste the first one, then copy and either Transparent Paste or Arithmetic Paste (Add or Max), or maybe even Boolean Paste, depending on how you want to combine the values from the constituent channels to get the merged channel.
