The topic of building a screw in 4-channel light bulb has come up and been discussed in another thread found HERE (http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7750).

Last year I built one of these for myself and wrote a little "How To" with several pictures while I was building it. I tried to submit it for the DIYC newsletter contest, but since I didn't have video of the bulb online, it wasn't included or posted in the newsletter. I soon forgot about it and continued on with other stuff. With the recent discussion as mentioned above, I remembered that I had already written the instructions and found where I had saved them. I posted how I built the bulb in the other thread (http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7750), but since this is the "How To" forum, I figured that I should post them here as well to help keep everything organized.

Enjoy.

I'd love to hear any comments you might have. Whether it be "good job" or "you really screwed this one up".
The only way to learn is to know where you can improve.

Ok, I am building these...I have decided...lol

Here is the question though. I did some searching on Mouser for the parts but came up with A LOT of choices. Do you happen to have the parts you used. I want to make the one you made, basically the half wave circuit with the capacitor and resistor. Do these parts happen to ring a bell?

66-CMO11001JLFTR
647-UVR2ER47MED

Those are Mouser part #'s.

After checking with my order history from mouser, here are the actual parts that I used:

660-M01CT52R102J : For the resistors
146-250V.47K : For the capacitors (they are now obsolete)

That being said, these were probably the cheapest ones at the time when I ordered them.
- It appears that the part number that you have for the resistor is a commercial grade resistor and I think would be fine.
- As for the capacitor, mouser suggested a possible replacement of 146-MEF2E474K for the one that I used. The capacitor must be non-polarized. The one you have listed is polarized.

I forgot about this, my fault, sorry.

Not a problem. Don't worry about it.
