I'm planning on 4 boards, so that would run $131.96 for the package deal. If I bought 70 reds and 50 each of the others (in order to get as close to the quantities I needed) that would leave me with a few extra LEDs but would raise the price to $192.94.
if I was going for 8 boards, the package would be 263.92 and a parts order (150 red, 100 each G&B, and 50 each ww and white) would run $316.92.
Looks like the package is a good deal.

Totals are updated on the first post. I forgot to mention that with capping the board order at 100, means I am placing the order for the boards early. What that REALLY means is I have already placed the board order!!
Also choose a short turn time (8 days in my hands) so ETA is a LOT sooner than originally planned. I had a little money saved to make this purchase for my part of the order - so I went and jumped the gun.

OK, I ordered 5 boards, and have a question now.
Can I hook these boards up to the computer to change the color for me??? I guess I am not sure how the color is being changed.

Also, ran into a small issue with the RED LED's - some of the cathode and anode pins are mis-marked/mis labeled. Please verify their orientation before installation.

can you explane this in more detail.... im not very smart with electronic stuff?
are you referring to the LEDs themself or the PCB markings? and explane how to overcome the issue.
Thank you very much

Got my cards from Frank today, and my LEDs from CeCe's. And I ordered the LEDs late Friday - got shipped out on Saturday, and showed up today!
Now, of course, I need to get my controllers finished, but that's waiting on some parts from Mouser, and then I need a 24V supply!

Has anyone had any issues with the green LED's, I've had 4 out of 12 fail so far. I just fired off an email to Colleen at CeCe's asking if there has been any issues reported to them and to get replacements shipped so I'll have them when I receive the rest of my boards. Hope this isn't a trend and I have enough time to get the rest of them assemble for this years display.
Cheers

No problems with the green LED's, but I had three of the warm white ones go bad. One was intermittently open, and two others had shorted.

I put all the red LEDs on the board and tested it. One didn't light up, so I tested all the other colors before soldering. I had 3 warm whites test bad. I contacted CeCe's and they said to send the bad ones back and they'd replace them. I haven't gotten around to that yet, but I'm not using floods in my Christmas display.

That's odd, I built 8 complete floods without a *single* bad LED. Maybe the demand has out-stretched the available good supply? ;)

Where do you think that all of these Ebay LEDs come from? Assuming that they didn't fall off the back of a truck somewhere, I strongly suspect that they are mostly rejects that have failed testing (probably on a per-lot basis, as the result of a few failed samples from the lot). So it's mostly random.
Sorry to be so cynical, but that's how I see it.
Edit - if I were planning on using these, I would turn them on (perhaps at half-brightness) and leave them on for quite a while. This should smoke out (so to speak) quite a few of the bad ones, since some of them may fail only after a while.

The Cece's LEDs have been 100% perfect for me. Again, I built eight floods and used them for my Halloween show. I've been running them again in testing while finishing up Christmas sequences and everything's working 100%.
Those of you that got some bad LEDs, did you get them from Cece's?

Found some great and rather inexpensive standoffs to mount my boards in the recommended enclosure.
Keystone is the mfg, but you can get them at Digi-Key or Mouser.
They are 1.5" aluminum standoffs. I got the 6-32 thread on mine, and they thread right into the screw holes on the flood housing. However, they are slightly smaller than the screws that came out of the holes (they are probably 8-32 screws), but since I have an excess of the 6-32 screws that are used on computer cases, disk drives, etc, it's not a problem to mount the board with those.
The 1 1/2 inch length puts the tops of the LED's just below the glass of the flood holder, and is much easier than drilling out the holes in the housing or trying to get the plastic tubing sized just right to put the board at the right level.
Keystone model number for the 6-32 size was 8422. Price was less than $1 each @ Digi-Key, but they have a qty 10 minimum, while Mouser charges just over $1, but has no minimum. Shipping will be at least $5 no matter how many you buy.

First place to check on these boards is Frank's web site. If there are any available, he would have them.
Last time I checked, he was even offering assembled boards and LED's for a reasonable price.
I might have a few left over, but won't know till after the season...

That's okay - I can wait. My ideas of use for them are not just christmas based, so maybe I should post this question again after christmas season. :-)
I checked the web site yesterday and there was nothing available, so oh well. Was a eagle or express-pcb layout ever published?
Thanks again,

I know I'm also real late to the game, but looking for 2010-2011 already, so if there is going to be another run of these or there are any boards left, I'm all in! Checked Frank's web site, and everything os out of stock at the moment.
I know some of you are using LOR boards to drive these, what PSU's are you using, or is the supply built into the LOR board? Sorry, not so lor knowledgeable yet. Looking to use these next year with LSP. Currently have AL hardware

Okay... I finally got around to getting a 24V PS for the mini. It is a nice little compact 120V regulated 24VDC out rated at 1.1 amps. I hot jacked it to one of the completed mini's and oh man is that bright. But...
The flood gets very hot. And after about 30 minutes, 1/2 the white LED's started to dim. They clearly have burn marks on the tops of the LED's. Also, for whatever reason 1/2 the green will not light.
The LED's are the bundle from CeCe. I thought I read someplace about the resistors being the wrong values.

Unfortunately you fried a couple of LED's. The values that CeCe supplies with the kit are incorrect. Check out this thread http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7799&page=15 Starts on post 148. I had the same issue. But the lights are still bright once you get the right values in there, The killer is the replacement LED's cost me some coin. Contact CeCe and she'll make up a kit once you figure out the what LEDs that you have to replace this way you don't have to buy the whole kit all over again.

Luckily it was only the first board that I fired up. I have not assembled the other boards yet, so I can adjust the resistor values. The local surplus place will make quick work of that. And I think I only maybe baked 3 of the white so far. Not sure what the problem is with the green yet. Not had time to look at it. I will change out the resistors ASAP. My PS is dialed in for exactly 24VDC. I will back it down a bit in the mean time. Maybe I should spend my $100 at Sparkfun on a hot air rework station...

You mention that half of your greens did not light. Have you figured that problem out yet? Ironically enough, I just built my second MM, and it all works except half of the greens. All leds have been tested, and all resistors work. Not sure what the problem is, if anybody has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
Thanks

I also had one board that 1 bank of green led did not work. When testing individually with a 9 volt battery they would work. I could not find a missing traces but suspect that either I had bad solder joint or there was a problem with the pcb. Could not figure out which one. I ended up soldering a wire from the + side of the terminal to where it goes and a wire from the - side of the terminal to where it goes ( don't remember where because that was a few weeks ago the the flood is now in its case).
