For Halloween, I am using some 20 Watt MR 16 halogen Coloured lights as well as some new LED MR 16s.

I managed to come by some OPTUS Cable TV enclousres and have mounted threee SSRs and a 160VA torid transformer in the case.

While the Halogens are 20 Watts, the LEDs are only 1 Watt each, so I should be able to keep inside my 160 VA power budget.

The torid has two secondary winding of 12 VAC, for the Halloween I will keep the windings in parallel, and at Xmas I can make them series (24 VAC) to use with bulb strings.

Nice! I'm beginning to appreciate the fact that in the U.S. we don't have to use transformers... :)

Matt,

you can use this sort of setup for 12VAC Garden lights. I am using a mixture of 20 Watt Halogen MR16, 1 Watt LED MR 16s, and 0.5 Watt LED garden lights and Strobes for Halloween.

I have mounted two of the enclosures onto a retaining wall and just bring in power, 3 CAT5 cables, and run low voltage cable to the lights.
