Mouser has just informed me that instead of working on backorder for the MOSFET part number 512-HUF75309P that this part now shows as obsolete.

They have offered an alternate part of :
512-FQP20N06

Can anyone with more experience help and let me know if this part is satisfactory or if not any other help with another alternate that would be satisfactory would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Leon

Hi,

the specified part is 511-STF20NF06, not the other two.

511-STF20NF06 is a tab isolated part, and in this application there is a risk that substituting a MOSFET that is not tab isolated, you will get TAB to TAB contact (DRAIN to DRAIN) and that will let out the magic smoke.

Unless you are certain that either of the two substitute parts for 511-STF20NF06 are TAB isolated, I would not recommend them.

I have used TAB isolated and non-isolated parts, however you need to install the non-isolated MOSFETs with one bent forward and the next bent backwards so there is a gap between the TABs.

Just my 2 cents.

John.

Good catch John.

Those other two parts listed do NOT have an isolated tab and could cause a problem if they were to touch each other .

Anybody know where else I might get 600 isolated tab MOSFETS suitable for this group buy. I can, at this point ask Mouser to ship without this part if I can get em somewhere else. What a mess. Can't believe Mouser would say they were in stock and the rest ship in 10 days when the fact is, according to them, they're obsolete.

Mouser is showing that the 511-STF20NF06 is in stock, or at least it is showning as in stock and not obselete? If we stick with the recommended part, there should be no problem.
