Hey guys
Anybody have some good suggestions, or know of another good thread about how to make a good donation box?
Thanks

I don't have much to offer other than bolt it down to some sort of cement piling that's in the ground so that it doesn't "walk away." The aura of Christmas does weird things to people who believe that "...it may be better to give than to receive, but I've given enough and now it's time for some receivin'"

Ya, after posting this and thinking about it for a few.
I think i might just build it myself.
A few 3/4" thick boards and a U bolt around the light post in front of my house should work.

I hope your light post is a heavy pipe that's embedded in concrete. There was a guy in my neighborhood who tried a donations box a few years ago and u-bolted it to his mailbox, which was mounted on a 4x4" wooden post at the end of his driveway.
A truck whacked it and broke it off, the driver stopped, threw the mailbox -- broken post and all -- into the back of his truck and drove off. The guy's security camera caught it all -- it took only about 10 seconds.
It's sad commentary on today's world.

A simple donation box is easily done this way.Take 1/4 in plate steel.Weld it into a box shape...For the door use safe hinges that weld them in place. When you mount it to a post filled with concrete simple drill a hole and incert a bar with a lock on both ends that stays inside the box. There is no way to remove that sucker...If you use old pipe from a rad heating system then you can easily make it near bullet proof...That pipe can easily be found as well as the 1/4 inch plate steel at any metal scrap year for pretty cheap..Welding is about $100.00 and your good to go..
Best advice I can give you..If you need a detailed drawing for it let me know as I'll be more then happy to draw it up and help you design it..I already consulted with the Lindsay boys when they did theirs and gave them tips on better stronger welds as friends of mine are in the business..So if I can be of any help let me know..
Joe..
