Hello everyone,

I'm yet another new guy to the forum and the world of christmas light animation. Like many others I've seen the houses a few years back that everyone oohhh'ed and ahhhhh'ed over and I thought it was cool. It wasn't until the end of the season 2008 that I decided to take the plunge. After seeing Kevin Cook's beautiful display on his website I knew I really wanted to do this.

I'm not an EE or an electronics genius, but fortunately for me this forum has all the information and resources I could possibly need. I am really looking forward to the next 10 months designing and building my display.

Currently I have 4 Ren24's and an RDS board on order through the various coops. I already have the FM transmitter and enough computers/cables/etc. to be able to run multiple displays. I can't wait to get the Ren's and start building.

I've started building my arches and made my sign this last weekend and have attached them for anyone that cares to look at them. The arches have 7 sets of lights on them. The sign was laid out in autocad to get the spacing correct for the lights which make up the letters.

Let me know what you think. I will be posting various updates to this thread as I get more of my display built. I also plan on setting up a website in the future just like a lot of the others here.

Anyway, thanks for reading my drivel.

Looks great!! This will be my first year, as well...I can't believe how much I've learned, and still learning, every day. I should have my first certified "blinks" sometime this week. All depends on getting 1000 led's out of China....

Welcome!

Roger

Thanks for the welcomes. This forum has already been a big help in getting things rolling. I check the new posts many times a day, even from work. Luckily I'm the IT manager so I can get away with it!

Here's a picture of my haul from the after Christmas sales. 35,000+ lights, various lawn orniments, and a bunch if clips and stakes.
