Anyone?

I used the ones that Darryl Brown sells on ChristmasLightshow.com. They are a little pricey, but have a very rapid and bright flash. Used 25 of them in my Mega tree and they randomze very well.

Ditto.
I only used 10 but it created qite a sparkle when fired off.
I plan to better distribute them throught the tree this year though.
Just don't try to dim them.
They also are great additions to any Fourth of July or Halloween display as well.
Great customer service as well. :D
Wait until later in the Spring or Summer for his annual sale for larger orders.

I too used strobes from Darryl at Christmas Light show. I had 8 strobes this year. Just one bit the dust from the rain. I still have one that has some water inside even though they are sealed.
I received an Action Lighting catalog last week and I saw they too have strobes in various colors, however they indicate they are on E-12 bases. Will that fit on a C7 socket? In any case they were $60 for a case of 12. Has anyone tried these?

I used 50 of them, and only lost one. (The one I lost actualy got broken on teardown.) I think Darryl recommends you drill a small hole in the top of the lens cover (if you suspend them by the socket) to let moisture out. You might try that, let it dry out, and it may work again.

Has anyone used CDI's strobes? 3.75 each right now on Pre-sale.

I believe they are new to the market. A member over on PC did a review on them........ they are not as bright as Darryl's strobes, and do not flash as rapidly, but seem to be a good value for the price.

Find a building that they are remodeling or tearing down and you can probably get the old Fire alarm strobes for free. They don't save those a lot of times. They are 24vdc most of the time. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I just had a bunch that were removed from an old building and was going to use them. Mine have a switch to adjust the flashes per min. I will test them and then I guess I will look at getting into the CDI coop when it happens.
CDI is having a presale now, I think it runs through February 13th. I think his strobes are $3.76 a piece for 10 in the presale.

Not sure if that's a 'flashes per minute' or a candelas output level adjust.
Fire alarm strobes have to be internally set for 1fps, or 60fpm.
So if you fire them all at once, they will not be random for quite a while.
some old old ones are less stringent about the 1fps but the new ones are very controlled,
to prevent epileptic issues.
I've got quite a few, but have to use separate outputs for each or they all flash at once.
And, they're 24VDC, not you common power supply.
What about making the LED strobes and just turn them on with the 595 or the similar.
