Has anyone ran Vixen 2.xx on a Win98SE box.
Considering using this with a Grinch for my first adventures in DIYC
Will support continue for Win98 into near future?
Have worked a little with Vixen 1.1 and also wonder before really getting started is it better to go to Vixen 2.xx for my Win 98 box?
Have old Win98 computer on hand that I'm not afraid of messing up but not to sure about plugging my home made efforts into newer Win XP box
Thanks for any info.

I also ran vixen 2.XX this last Christmas, loaded it onto another directory so as not to mess up the working 1.1.11. After seeing that it ran perfectly, I used it w/o problems. Grab the latest version (wherever it is) and let it update itself if necessary. Having the ability to slow down the playback for programming is about the only new feature I've used so far.

Know what you mean. I killed a parallel port early in the year to a stupid mistake. Fed 120vac back into the ground pin. Lucky everything else works fine. But thats what I get for not having the port protected in the first place!

I tried running 2.05, 2.07, and 2.09 last year and all froze up on me. I switched to a laptop running XP Home and all ran except for 2.09.

There is now a 2.10 available on a different thread here. All users are reporting good behavior - but no one has mentioned 98SE. I want to try it sometime in the near future on my old 98SE box.

I tried the 2.1 tentative version and it ran, but it was extremely choppy and I could hear my CPU fan kicking off into overdrive.
