I don't know if this really belongs here but here goes.

Does anyone know if LEDs need to be high Intensity (High Brightness/Super Bright etc) for outdoor display, or can I get away with using standard LEDs.

Also should I be looking for a high angled LED (20,40,60 degrees) or again are the standard LEDs good enough for a light string.

I do not think it matters. The standard leds should be fine. The leds will be pointing in all sorts of directions so the angle will not be pertinent. Just remember each color has different power requirements and will need a different current limiting resistor.

Yeah! Where are we in the testing of this? I hadn't really given it much thought after the mini, but I do recall we discussed the possibility of just scratching them up with sandpaper to get the diffusion. I think this is going to take a little testing. The LEDTricks display only required 768 of the LEDs, so after using some of them on the SSRs (overkill) I have some left over to try this out.

Yelling into the other room... "Dawn, where's the sandpaper?"
