Ok, so I had background music running for the past week and it was stopping when my program started and start back up when program ended... no problems.

So tonight, I added a background sequence to turn on certain lights before and after my scheduled program. Tonight was the first time I ran the BGS. The background music failed to stop. I had to manually uncheck the run background music in the tools>preferences menu in order to make the music stop.

I then went in later to test to see if maybe at the time in which the program started the background music song was ending and a new one starting, might have just accidentally stepped on each other. So while the program was running, I went into preferences and checked to run background music and it began to step over my program audio.

After setting up the BGS, I had not restarted vixen, so I will try that tonight after the schedule. Is there a way to control the music via the scripting language? Am I missing something w/ background music/sequence?

I had that issue as well. Please list it as a bug at http://bugzilla.vixenlights.com .

This has happened to me three times this season. It seems to be a timing issue when the program starts. It depends on if a background song is just starting or if it is in the middle. When it is just starting at the kick off of the program, it causes an error with the Renard plugin and they both run. If it is in the middle of a background sound, it works correctly.

My guess is it has more to do with a disk read. The only way I can fix it is to reboot the system. There is no pattern to it. I went 8 days before it happened. The 2nd and 3rd were only one day apart and now I'm at 5 days without it happening.

I was not using a BGS at the beginning and the problem still occurred. My guess is that it is coincidental and that the problem would have occurred anyway.

I foud a plug-in for Winamp called "AutoPlay."
This plugin allows you to turn Winamp on and off at certain times. I also have 2,116 Christmas songs to play as well. With Winamp I can select the one folder and all the songs are loaded. With Vixen, I can't do that. Loading the songs would take forever.

I have Winamp scheduled to start when my show ends, and stop when my show starts.

Great! Thanks for sharing this.

I should also mention this:
When using Autoplay, the "Timeout" slide bar is how many seconds the Fade-Out is on scheduled stop. And even though there is a checkbox for fade-out, it seems that it always fades out.

Also, make shure you check the "Enable" box for both start and stop.

For those who do not have winamp (it's free):

And the Autoplay plug-in:
