One of my standard SSRozs, driven by a Grinch (it has the RPM DMX dimmer board in front of it), has an interesting problem:

Channels 1, 2 & 3 function normally as long as Channel 4 has no signal. When the Channel 4 signal comes through, the first three channels react in synch.

So, if Channel 4 dims up from 0-255, so do Channels 1, 2 & 3. If Channel 4 blinks, the other three blink in sympathy. If Channel 4 is off the others work as they are supposed to.

What should I be looking for here? Cat5 cable? Bad solder joints on the board? Arcing?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I had a bad RJ45 jack cause similar actions last year. One of the pins was across the others.

The first thing that I would try is plugging in the cable from a working SSR. Then plug the SSR in place of a working one. This way you can find out whether it’s truly the SSR or the cable.
