I am building my display with 6 channel SSR's inside metal power strips (AKA surge strips) like robert stark's how to on CC:

Has anyone found a cheap source for the power strips? I have yet to go to wal-mart, but the online wal-mart is alot more than $5 a strip...

Thanks!

I have only seen the metal 6' length strips. Otherwise it seems like everything is plastic these days.

well, I went to wal-mart, and they do have the metal ones... but they're $13 a piece...

Does anyone know where to get them cheaper?

Try http://www.allelectronics.com and look for SNAP-IN NEMA 15-5 receptacles. Then get some scrap aluminum (old conduit or something) and make some snap together power strips.
You basically crimp these together on some 14-16Gage solid wire. I suppose, depending on how many you need and how long you want them, this could be an economical way to go. I suppose they may not be cheaper but could be made into exactly what you want.

I knew a company that used these for making lockers with outlets on the inside.

I found an ebay auction that has them for $8.15 each including shipping..That is probably what I'll do.

The seller said if I ordered more he'd give me them for 7.35 each including shipping. I just don't need more than 8 or 12.....

Thanks for the help everyone!

Another build-your-own option: 693-4300.0705 at mouser. $0.56 each.

If you go the build it yourself route. Use regular outlets. Lowes has a pack of ten for less than $4. That is less than 20 cents an outlet.
