Got one of my 595 mounted in my CCC (christmas control center.) I got the 18 x 18 Hoffman box from work that we were not using along with a back plate. I ordered the 48 port patch panel off of e-bay for 8.00 and also got the cable management tray from work. I still have to build and mount the other 595 and cut two 3/4 holes for some cord grips for my board power and parrell cable. I think i can also fit another grinch board in there next year if I have to, which is the reason I got the 48 port patch panel.

Looks good are you going to move the LEDS to the front panel?

Doubt it, probably won't even install them on the second board. I just put them on there for testing since I hadn't soldered anything in like ten years and wasn't sure everything was going to work out ok. I thought about putting a picture of a reindeer on the cover with a red light for the nose to show when it was powered up but I'm not sure yet.

I like it .On mine I soldered the cat5 cables direct to the 595 board then conected to the 110 punchdowns eliminated the rj45s

Great box, you could put a clear acrylic top on the box, mask it just to show the 595's and the leds blinking away and bung in a couple of cold cathde tubes, and make it glow in the dark.

I'm debating on if I should trim the 1" of over hang I have on my patch panel. Its about 1/2" on each side. I guess I should have gotten the dimensions for it before I bid. The only thing it would cut off is the screw holes, but then i worry about what happens if i find a bigger box at work down the road that I could use those holes for.

the boxes that are designed for racking mount will be smaller than the front patch panel. all rack mount front panels wiil be the same size
