Looking to add a single bulb to a personalized ornament that I'm giving my soon to be (hopefully!) fiance for Christmas.
I was hoping that I could cut bulb/wire off a defunct strand and wire it up using a watch battery or something.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I agree... an LED of appropriate color, and a battery of appropriate size to match the LED (and fit the ornament). Most LEDs will run fine off of a watch battery and usually don't require a current limiting resistor.
Good luck!

they make battery powered led tealight candles and ive seen them retail for under 2$. even using the tealight would still be very small and i have a few.im not home until saturday night but can send you a photo if you think it might work. look in a canle aisle at any big retailer.

Thank you. I'll try hitting up the local radioshack for those leds and batteries. Now I just need to decide where/how I'll be putting bulb so it's not obtrusive to the ornament. I'll be sure to upload pictures when I have something pieced together.

Here's the final lighted project. I wasn't able to find 10mm bulbs as the video recommended, but I was assured by the salesperson that the bulbs inside the variety pack he sold me will work just the same. The battery is a 6V and I simply taped the battery/lights to the ribbon that the ornament is hanging from.
The ornament is from personalizationmall.com
Again, thanks for all the help!

Well, not yet.
It'll be given to her on Christmas eve
I'll check in one more time to let you know.

Congratulations! Sure you don't want to do a Christmas wedding - could have Santa do the service!
