Max distance from controller to ssr board.

I've looked and can't seen to find what the maximum distance is that the standard 4 ch SSR board can be from the controller. Does anybody have any idea?

What distance are you wanting to go? Runs of 100' have been no trouble in the past.

I believe someone has tested between the controller and SSR with a 1000' spool of CAT5.

Sean Bowf did a test last year with a spool of about 800 feet of cat 5 between the controller and ssr with success.

I would have never expected that much. The max distance for what I'm working on should be less than 100 - 150 ft.

BTW I have this weird dream of lighting up all of the cedar trees on my eight acres.
There's about 30 of them. It would look impressive as hell at the climax of a song.

If you do that you may want to contact NASA so they know ahead of time of what it is they will be seeing. I think they would appreciate that. ;p

I can confirm this distance too. I just ran a check on my system. I hooked up an 8 year old desktop to a 595. Then connected it to 850 feet of cat 5 and my SSR turned my lights on and off. I was worried about a 150 foot run I have - no longer worried. :D

"Lights On" is only 11 days away. I think I will make it.
