View Full Version : Slow down music

When I sequence music, I find it would be helpful in especially difficult places (like a very fast beat or trying to pick up a back ground rhythm) if I could temporarily slow down the song to half or quarter speed and get the right points to sequence my channels.

I use 1.1. I have not looked at 2.0 yet so I don't know if that feature exists in the beta version. If not, could it be added?

Thanks,
Steve

I requested this last year but it did not happen.

What would also be nice is the ability to highlight a section of music and then right click and say move to a specific channel. So it maintain its time interval and it is just shifted to the other channel. A similar copy function would be handy as well.

I was going to say that with the next beta update that I wouldn't be taking any more enhancement requests, but when you get a half-dozen people in agreement on something, it's hard to say no.

KC,

Appears people want it, but given that we are approaching Christmas time of year and the fact that you now work for LOR (I think) your priorities may have to be with the effort that puts food on the table.

Don't know how much work it would be, but if it is too late to get it into V2.0, I would propose you focus on the issues that make the system operable, and save this request for some V2.1 or V2.0.1.

If I cannot have it until next year - Its worth the wait to me to make sure Vixen 2.0 is rock solid. This request can wait. Its not stopping any of us from getting our songs sequenced. Its nice to have, not essential to have.

I didn’t ask for it, but if it’s there, I will definitely use it. If it’s no big deal to go slower or variable, add it now. Some of the really fast stuff would be a lot easier to sequence. Some of us old guys don’t respond as fast as we used to.

But don’t add it now if it compromises getting the rest of it stable. I’d rather that Vixen be cool for those viewing the display, than how it is for me.

To make sure I have this in the correct context in my mind...are you guys talking about having this in the editor or in the audio dialog where you select the audio? If you're talking about having it in the editor, I have a prelim attempt at it working right now. I only have my limited selection of MP3s and WMAs to test with, but so far they are responding.

If this is agreeable with you, I can get it into the next beta update for your evaluation.

I'm not Vixen savvy so I am not sure what you mean when you say editor and when you say audio dialog. If by editor you mean where I actually build my sequence (click on the boxes to turn the channels on and off and save the sequence) then yes, that is what I am talking about.
I am sure the others can weigh in from a more informed position.

Thanks KC

I’m talking about the editor. I would want the ability to easily turn it on and off. I see this as an option to help write a sequence and not something that I would want to permanently change.

This is simply for helping in sequencing. It would be nice to be able to slow it down to 1/4 speed so we can pick the right time to turn on/off the lights. It is not for normal play speed.

*puts hand up*

This would be a very handy feature, and I would definitely be putting it to a good use!

the same for me, sow the music down in the editor and get my sequences sorted.

No need for slower playback, after the sequence is completed.

I have been using 2.0.3.1 and it has that feature. It is very helpful. The only problem I have is getting vixen 1.1 sequences to work in vixen 2.0.3.1. What I started I had to redo because I can't get them to work in 2.0.3.1

Hi I am really new to using vixen. I searched looking for this feature and found this thread. I am using 1.1.11 Which version has this feature, where can I find it and how do I update it? Sorry for so many dumb questions but I am not all that computer savy. I do try hard though. LOL

Edited to add: I found that this is an available feature in the BETA 3. I can see where to download the zip file. I just wanted to double check, Is this an add on over the top of the original version or should I delete the old version before I install the new one. I don't really have anything saved in the old one as I have just been playing to learn so far.

Delete the first one. You will start seeing that it does automatic updates from the Web (if you have web access on that machine). It should update to the latest release of the Beta 3.
