the lights we put on our tree have faded, so i have several strands of lights with eight function controllers on the end. i'd like to cut off the lights and solder outlets in their place so i can plug in some of the lights i have in front of the house. is it possible to sync two (or more) of the controllers to each other?

thanks for the info. that's what i planned to do, but i didn't realize it was so easy to overload the controllers.

what i meant in my original post is, with 2 or more of these controllers, can you wire them so that they work in sync, so both controllers are on the same pattern?

It would be a lot easier to simply bypass the controllers and hook the strings to a grinch or olsen or even a ren. Depends if you have any of these yet or not. This is my first year of blinky flashy and I have lost count of all the controllers that found there way into my bin. I did come accross a few that had memories so they stay on what you leave them on but they are few and far between.

i like that idea. i didn't think about bypassing the chip and using the rest of the circuit in place of an ssr. i have the parts but no board for the grinch. too late to make one now, but i have five or so of these 8-function controllers lying around. if i can use them with the grinch i can be set with 20+ channels for next year, as long as i don't over load them. this would be great for the giant ornaments i got at walmart last year, each of which have at most 50 bulbs in them, or for my lighted candy canes (25 bulbs each?)

Maybe you can use the controller to turn on a higher amperage ssr which in turn will turn on many many lights. Just get some puck style ssrs that utilize a 120v input trigger.
