Will the parts coop run by Jayson be posted here, I haven't seen Jayson listed as a member on this forum, and the Vixen forum is locked down. I like everyone else am waiting for my kits, (no angst, just waiting) and keep checking on the progress of the parts, will this still happen here?
Kevin
He wasn't aware that things were moving to a new forum, so I PM'd the locations to him. I'm sure he will be here soon enough. If not, it's all easy enough to rectify.

Kevin/Everyone,
No fear, I'm here now, but am keeping extremely busy sorting through all these parts the next few days. The Triac's and Opto's "box" was 86 pounds, no idea why UPS had it as 97 pounds on the website, but, I suppose 86 pounds is still impressive to say the least.
9500 of each triacs and opto's. Yeah, a good deal of parts. My old digital camera bit the dust, but I did get another one last night, so pictures of just what 9500 triacs and 9500 optos looks like sooner than later. I'll see about starting a dedicated thread here for the co-op folks.

Hi Jayson,
Great to hear you've made it over here.

Hi Jason,
The old thread was locked down so I never could say this.....
THANK you for taking the time to do this! Take your time and I'll get the parts when I get them. No worry here...
Cheers
John

I'm being careful to ensure that no one is disappointed by not receiving parts that should be included in any of the kits, we all had to wait a good while and I would think for something like that to happen would be a slight thorn in the side to say the least.
I appreciate the thanks from everyone, I want to thank you all as well since I too received a discount on the parts as everyone else. It took some time, but.. I believe it was worth it.
Look for a thread here which will contain much of the relevant information that was found on the vixen site as well as updated information of course.
The reason pictures haven't come yet is that I noticed I only have 10 days to ensure all the parts were received, so sorting/pictures has taken a back seat to ensure I take note and report any discrepancies to Mouser before its too late to do so. An understandable move I'm sure.
Watch for the dedicated thread guys, we're almost there!
Jayson, I appreciate the massive work ahead of you but do you have any idea when you think the parts will be shipping out?
Some kind of update would be good.

An update is that I'm sorting and packaging (while keeping packaging as cheap as possible BUT will ensure safe delivery of the parts) of 59,000 parts.
I know everyone is anxious, but, this is a personal time situation with just my hands doing the work, no business, etc. I don't mean to come out strong guys, but, just know, its a great deal of work. I appreciate patience.
I'm creating a post now to provide a centralized place for information. I'll say this, I haven't any idea when the parts will be shipped, could be 2 days, could be 5. It's quite a lengthy process/undertaking. Too bad 9500 Triac's aren't going to a single individual, would keep me from counting them all out individually (and thats just the number of Triac's).
That being said, a post is on its way.

To help make that a little easier for you: Place a piece of masking tape on a table and mark increments of 10 parts across it, maybe go up to 100. This way, you’ll be able to count faster and not forget how far you got already. I worked in a stock room several years ago and that’s how we did it.

Gotcha. Am doing that, though I have it marked for 16. The RJ45 connectors I used the foam tray they came in but taped it off to allow only 4 on the top row, then 8 on the row below it and then 8 again on the row below that one.
If only I had the machines that I could load the spool of resistors in and it would cut at certain increments. ;)
My wife is calling me for dinner, after that I'll be back to the sorting thing. I'm definitely open to any other and all other suggestions, whatever will make it a faster process, I'm in for.

For parts on taped reels, we had something that looked like a plastic yardstick. It had something that stuck up on the zero end (kind of like an up side down nail) that you place the first one over, measured and cut it with scissors. We typically just went for close, since the cost of a couple of extra resistors wasn’t worth the time to count them exactly.
For parts that were loose in a box, we used a scale. You’d put just enough on it to weigh something, tell it how many there were and then you could dump a pile on it and it would tell you how many there were. This method was exact. Someone that did a Coop last year, barrowed one from work.
A quick way to package items that aren’t static sensitive is Saran Wrap; fold crumple and you’re done.
