View Full Version : LedTriks controller to Ledtriks PCB
Ok, For those of you who have both the LEDtriks Controller and the new LEDtriks PCB boards. I have drawn up a Diagram showing the basic wiring configuration. I how someone finds this helpful.

Pete:
Thankew, thankew, thankew ... this answers so many questions for me.
But a question for you: in your diagram, aren't the six RJ45 connectors across the bottom (two on each panel) redundant? And the two on the far right?
Or did you include these on the notion that someday you may end up with more panels?
Again, thanks.

PS: I ask this question in no small degree because I have a bag of 16 RJ45 top-mounts sitting here and was startled to see 24 in your diagram.
the unused rjs across the bottom and right end of the board are for expansion purpose but this is limited to the software

Just a sanity check -- I'd appreciate it if somebody could review the attached diagram to make sure I'm putting the RJ45s in the right place and connecting them to a further correct location.
Thanks.

are j7 and j9 in the right position on the ledtriks board?

instead of using the rj45 connectors on each board to join them horizonally you can use the 8 pin .1 headers and just jumper them with some wire. I just used the cut off legs from the led's. This helped as it added some strength between the boards so they help support each other,
this means you need a total of 8 rj45 jacks and 4 x 8 wire jumpers.

are j7 and j9 in the right position on the ledtriks board?
Nope ... they're back-asswards.
Try this one.

Pete - after about an hour of looking for such "verification" that I understood the wiring, my heartfelt thanks!! I really think this should be in a sticky, or someplace a little easier to find, personally...
Thanks again! (ps, I was right, but REALLY needed the 2nd set of eyes!)

Great diagrams guys - I'm building up two sets of LEDTriks so this is perfect. I just completed/tested my first LED panel - five to go!
I will have two Triks controllers and two Triks-c adaptors - what is the purpose of the "out" on the Triks controller board? It seems to imply that they can be daisy-chained - or was this some 'future feature' kind of thing?
Brian
They can be daisy chained... you can run your 2 controllers off 1 port (you can run up to 4 controllers off 1 port... just like Ledtriks)

Sorry - that was a silly question on my part - I knew they could be daisy-chained - I was a bit confused when combining it with the Triks-C but I see there is a daisy-chain port on it as well. I thought for a moment that I could use a single Triks-C to one Triks and then chain over to the second Triks using the out port from the first but I see that is not the case.
I am planning on setting up a 2x1 configuration as I plan to have more animations then text.
Thanks for the reply.
Brian
