When do tarrifs increase?

There is already a 10% tariff in place. An additional 15% was supposed to go into effect on January 1, 2019, and the tariff is charged based on the date the goods are landed in the U.S. However, there is a 90-day moratorium on the additional 15%, so the extra tariff doesn’t go into effect until later in 2019.

Kensington is correct on this. Hopefully I'll be able to do another sale before they officially increase the tariff to 25%

Kensington is correct on this.

With good reason. I'm trying to get about 50 containers on the water and landed before the moratorium expires. The moratorium is a really big deal for anyone importing, and the timing is not coincidental. The tariff has hurt smaller Chinese factories more than their President will admit. The main challenge to beating the tariff is the volume of orders hitting factories and getting freight on the water before Chinese New Year, so the 90 days is only about 60 days in real terms, and half that is spent on the water. So bottom line is order now.

MrSmoofy,

Any update on another sale prior to tariff increases?
