Launcher Application

Hello all....

I'm trying to figure out how to use the launcher function to start an application that will run a particular file.... My problem is this..... Vixen will recognize the executable for the other program but if I try to put in a file name for the other program to pull up and run then Vixen doesn't like that......or at least I'm entering it incorrectly...Vixen seems to like things ending in .exe

Has anybody had any luck getting this to work?

You can get it to accept .bat files if you want. Just type in *.bat and locate the file you want.

I've forgotten....how do you create one?

Are you putting the parameters in the parameters field in the plugin? From memory there is a cell for the executable and the parameters go somewhere else (like in a cell next door?)

You may have to give the filename with its full path.

I use Wordpad. It's a text file.

You can launch any executable from the launcher by the *.extension method.

Take a look at the launcher section of this how to (http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showpost.php?p=42729&postcount=1).


You may have to give the filename with its full path.

Yes there is a parameters field next to the path field....but I can't figure out how to get in it to type in parameters??? :confused:

Is there a magic code word or something?

Try

1) Click 'add new' to add a new program in the launcher setup window.
2) Browse to the program (ie LTC.exe) to select it
3) once the program is selected click into the parameters space on the screen and type the parameters you want.

As far as I can tell the trigger level determines at what 'brightness' the channel you have assigned to the launcher will trigger the program you have selected with the parameters.

so with the launcher working ... just turn on the channel you have assigned it to at the brightness corresponding to the program/parameter combination you would like to run.

The way its been set up you can configure different parameters to run at different brightnesses... so that's up to 255 or so different messages/sequences/animations you could trigger from one launcher plugin.

I think LAUNCHER only allows percentages (0-100) rather than levels (0-255) unless there is another option outside the plugin to toggle it?

Yep. I stand corrected :) its 1-100.. which makes sense cause that's how you enter it in vixen...

I am only using 15 this year so it isn't an issue either way. I hadn't considered just adding another channel and another plugin to get 100 more. That is a great tip.

Well....I had tried that....I select the program but it won't let me enter anything in the parameters section.....
