Finalizing some assembly... trying to determine what length folks are using on the extension cords coming from the SSRs? What have you used and would you change the length? I'm thinking making all mine 6', but not sure if that is overkill as most of the ssrs will be near their "subjects"

Thanks,

I bought 6' cords...my thought is "why waste the cord?" I am planning on cutting off the male plug only and using all 6'. You never know when you will change your display and actually need it.

I have used 6 foot to date. I find they are too short sometimes. I know Wayne J uses 6, 9 and 12. I think the longer the better, to a point. From experience I would recommend you use what you have, preferable 9 or 12 footers for most if not all. I think a good solution would be to use 2 6 footers, a 9 and a 12. This would give you the ability to go up to 18 feet apart between channels. That should take care of most situations.

I made most of mine from the $1.97 12' Home Depot cords. I'm finding they're too long in most cases. However, better too long than too short....

I made mine the first year with cords from floor heaters that my company got back from insurance seekers when their house burnt down. These guys were looking for someone to blame. The cords were still good. Typically they were 4 to six feet.

The ones that I’m building this year are getting 6 footers that I got on clearance at HD for only 31¢ each. I bought 70 because that’s all they had.:D

The way my setup is, I will be using 4 colors (RGBW) with every SSR. All strings will be starting from the same place, so I don't think that I'll need long extension cords. Just long enough to get from the SSR to the start of the bundle of light strands.
