Ok, I don't work with and understand fully triacs that well.
Can a guru explain what a "Logic level Triac" and weather they can be used as a replacement for the BTA08-400BRG as used in our SSR?
Rockby are flogging T405-600T/9 at 20cents each.

Matt,

i cant help you much with the how they work bit , but those triacs work fine, but they are non isolated tab, so if you decide to use em the metal tabs on the bac of the triacs are live to when ever voltage your running though them. IE. BE CAREFULL WITH 240V.

but having said that they are working fine in my ren-16 @ 24v

I don’t think that this has anything to do with development and really should have been placed in a different forum. This forum wasn’t meant to teach electronics.

A logic high level is typically any voltage between 2 and 5.25 volts depending on the supply voltage of the part. A logic level TRIAC typically interprets a high as anything above 1.5 volts.

A non-logic level TRIAC will require a much higher level than 5 volts.
