Ever make any kinetic art? I like the large wall stained wooden 'mechanisms' that have lots of moving parts: gears or levers operated by weight or spring. A friend of mine use to make gear and slide sculptures. He sold that stuff for lots of cash (he was very talented).

only problem was / is obtaining good workable plans.
The plans I purchased had minor flaws to prevent the clock from actually working right.
Didn't find out that some of the wooden gears had the centers off just a bit.
