I setup my SD card for my PI2 following the instructions in this forum. When I start the PI I see a multi-color screen. It goes away and I see a message saying:

sh:can't access tty: job control turned off.

Please help!

Thanks, Fran

A quick google search indicates that this may be an issue with the GPIO lines. Please make sure you have nothing attached to the PI except power and Ethernet. Make sure there is no dirt near the expansion connector etc. The line that cuases such a response is GPIO5 (I know, greek to most people) but if that line is held in the wrong state, you will get that message.

Do you have anything connected to the GPIO pins? Or a couple GPIO pins touching?

That error comes up on this page: http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/19561/cant-access-tty-job-control-turned-off

Thanks for the quick responses. That was it. I had the fan plugged into the GPIO.
