I started the process for getting ready for this year. I decided to upgrade to LED lights. Last year was my first year, and I only used 32 strands of minis. Because I have limited space because I'm in a townhouse, I figured a good way to add some punch was to go to LED. I was a little hesitant because of the cost....and wasn't really sure how much brighter the lights would be. Well, I got my lights today (thanks Paul at Creative Displays - 4 days after I ordered - and he by far had the best prices thanks to the nice discount he gives DIYC members) and I tested them tonight. I am so happy I decided to upgrade. They are so much brighter than standard minis...and I think are really going to add a lot to the show. My problem now is that I was planning on using the minis from last year to make some mini-trees. Now the differences in the lights is so big that I almost don't want to use them.

I am sold on using LEDs from here on out. If you're thinking about it and have some cash laying around....I highly recommend it.

Could you send me a close up photo of them on/off? maybe post some pics of the actual samples.

Probably not the best picture, but you can see the difference in light output. The minis are the 100 light strands from Target. The LED lights are 70 light strands.
