Can I wire power into the parallel connector from a USB port (USB Pin 1 = 5V to Grinch Pin 1, USB Pin 4 = GND to Grinch Pin 2)?

The guide says I need 5V and that seems like a good place to get it.

No,the USB port cannot handle the required amperage. If you wish to use your PC for power, you must get it directly from the power supply inside.

Can I use the red (+5V) from the Molex connector and use the parallel port as ground? Or should I connect the black (GND) from the Molex to the RJ45 pin 3? Do I need to connect grounds from both the Molex and the parallel port to pin 3 on the RJ45?

I'd just take the black and red and just run them out the back of the PC and hook them up to the J2 connector on the Grinch, without fiddling with the parallel port or the RJ45.

Less likelihood of making a blue-smoke mistake that way ;) ...

I'd love to do that but I don't have a 2-pin connector to plug in there.
