Making a ropelight 12 volts?

I have plenty of 110V rope light, but I have to run in with a 12V power supply (or maybe a 24V if that is much easier) <Don't ask why... stupid bureaucracy>

Is there a way to cut the rope light into sections to use at 12 or 24 volts?

I have both an AC and a DC Power Supply, so either way I can do.

The 110V ropelight is already split into sections. Usually every 18 inches (varies) is a series circuit. You can cut between these sections and each one of them is its own 110V section.

Assuming 1-inch bulb spacing that would mean that each bulb is dropping more than 6V. So unless you want 2" sections, I don't think it's possible.
