I bought lots of minilights at after Christmas sales this year. They were purchased from several different sources and are mixed brands. I am a little concerned that there may be noticeable color difference between the different brands of lights.

Does anybody have any experience with this?

Reds seem to be quite different. Yellow/orange/gold also seem to look the same in the box but different when lit up.

Don, Likely there will be differences. I have a mix or normal and LED's and the colors are markedly difference. I simply mix the combinations together and it looks fine. Alternately decorate so that all a tree, bush, etc. have all the same brand. Not really sure it makes much of a difference in the end.

I did some visual testing after dark last night. You were pretty much spot on Vitus. I have five different brands of reds and the ones that I got at Home Depot and Ace Hardware look identical. In fact, they look like they may be from the same manufacturer. The Target reds were a little different, but close. The Wal Mart reds were a noticeably more pinkish. The reds that I bought at a dollar store weren't red at all, they were hot pink, and some of them within the same string didn't even match .

I only noticed subtle differences with the greens and blues, and the clears were surprisingly equal in brightness. I don't plan on using any other colors this year, so I didn't test them.

I have found lowes/homedepot/target leds to be of "good" quality - and similar in color. The wal-mart ones on the other hand - have had the worst color (and also have faded the fastest)

A few years ago I bought several boxes of rope lights, some from Lowes and others from Target. You can totally tell the difference in those, esp Reds. I haven't tested the minis I got, but now you have me concerned!

just try to use one brand for each part of the display.
All my mini-trees are the Lowes ones,
but the mini-mega-tree is all WalMart.
At least this way,
all the common design parts are the same color.
I'm not concerned if my big tree is a little off color from the minis
as they aren't near each other.
