The Ledtriks board was developed using these

It is recomended that you use them

Any chance of using the 5mm white?

As long as the specs are the same the collor is not the issue
other leds may overdrive the components on the controller
Just because they are 5mm they are not the same...

DC forward voltage : VF (IF =20mA)
1.9V-2.1V Typ, 2.4VMax

DC reverse current : IR (VR =5V)
100uA
Intensity luminous : Iv (IF =20mA)
BA04: 1000-1400mcd, max is now 2000mcd(Mar 2007)

Wavelength : Wp (IF =20mA)
620-630nm

OK thanks.
Thats why I asked. I did see different specs on the LED's.

If different coloured LED's were to be used would you use a different resistor in the circuit somewhere, ie go from a 2vdc red LED to a 3vdc Blue LED?Im still reading up on the ledtriks board and im a thinking i got the hang of it but im still looking.Ill assume the little scrolling ledtriks board that someone has under their posts is basically how it works.
