Slowly converting my led props to smart pixels. I'm looking for ideas or pics of pixel poles to replace my 4 led poles with 3ch star burst. I'm mainly focusing on the poles right now. I was looking to use James matix panels 4x50 pixels per pole. But I'm worried about the flatness of the panels and viewing angles from the road. My house is not set that far from the road and I think viewers from down the street may not see the effects like my round poles displayed lay year. Anyone using pixels for poles. Definitely want at min 3-5 pixels wide. Thanks Rob

I don't have any pics. But I'm using 30per meter strips inside a tint tube (tint tube is the end roll that window tint is rolled onto). It's a 3in tube that defuses the light.

That sounds interesting. How are you going to support it? I'm looking for multiple columns per pole, so I can do meteors, spirals, etc using XLights.

Rob, This may not be what you're looking for but these are the pixel light poles I made last year with coroplast. I used round pieces of coroplast to segment the pole into 7 sections so the colors wouldn't blend into each other. The clear tube holding the pixels is a T8 fluorescent protective tube.

I am building mine the same way Matt Johnson did his arches using HDPE with rebar caps at the ends. It is hard to get the tubing to straighten out but it is getting there. I used 1" metal pole at 10' long with the tubing at 9' so I have one foot extra to drive into the ground to stand them up. I am using pixel strips inside like Matt did with the arches. I am still waiting for my pre-sale strips to come in so I have not fired them up yet. I can post pictures of the rest of the build if you are interested though.

I am doing 4 arches with 5 poles, one at each end of the row and one pole at each meeting point of the arches.

Great ideas guys! So many more options then I thought.

Last year I made a wall of pixel poles. each pole was 40" tall and had 20 pixels at 2" centers. the coro strip was based on a design similar to our CoroTrim segments but even smaller width because I knew I was attaching them to 1/2" EMT. The poles were 18" on center and I had 70 linear feet of this wall. I used 1" square tube that was 25' long and drilled holes in it to attache the 1/2" vertical pole. then I drilled three holes perpendicular to the pixel poles and horizontal to the ground to insert another EMT to act as a leg and keep the wall up. When I go to store the wall I remove those legs and they all lay flat to each other on the wall for storage.

this is a prototype setup I did for testing http://vid216.photobucket.com/albums/cc56/JamesHohensee/44760D3E-BD86-4257-BFC8-E03191AF0691_zpsu3qf8wp5.mp4

That's a nice setup! I have 800 pixels set aside for my pixel poles. You guys think more poles with less pixels per poles, as in James display, 1x20x 40poles. Or more pixels per pole with less poles, 4x50x4poles? I don't have as much room ad James since adding my addition to the house.
James question on your matrix panels. Could I slice them long ways on the back to create a small radius to the panel. Or does the grain run across short ways?

What diameter did you roll the Coro into. Also what did you use as the base and where did you get the globe on top. Are they glass or plastic. Thanks.

Definitly would like more details on these would love to make some myself.

Love your pixel poles, would you mind telling me what you used for the ball on top.

Thanks
