I guess I'll put this in the FPP forum, since it's only FPP that has the problem. But I don't know, really, if it's FPP or something else.

I have a 300 RGB light strip. It's not 300 channels but 300 pixels (900 channels). It's connected to a single channel on the e682 controller. I have it setup to use Universe 1, 510 channels, AND Universe 2, 390 channels. It works perfectly using the built in tests, on the e682 web page.

I setup Vixen 3 to control this string and created some sequences. They work perfectly using Vixen 3. All 300 pixels work great, and exactly as expected. I used some chase effects, Nutcracker, solid colors, etc. All pixels light perfectly.

THEN, I exported the sequence to the format for FPP (*.fseq). I put it in my sequence folder on my USB and started the FPP. FPP was previously configured for the same Universe setups. Everything worked as expected... ALMOST. The effects (by type) worked properly over the entire strip of lights. But right at the Universe boundary, the colors were off. This ONLY happens when using FPP.

Example: I'm at work, so I don't recall the exact colors but say I made the string all Red. It would be Red, up to the point between Universe 1 and 2. At that point the string might be Blue from universe 2 on. Like I said, this only happens in FPP. Vixen 3 displays the effect over the entire string properly.


Say I have a twinkle effect, in White. Right up to the universe boundary (170 pixels), the twinkle is White. From universe 2 on, the twinkle has some other color.

Any idea what might be causing this?

you got a screen shot of universes from e682 and export list from vixen?

I'll have to wait till noon to post it. Is the export list in text format? I thought xseq was binary. Oh wait, when I export, there are two files created. Maybe the other is text.

When you cycle thru the colors using the FPP is the last pixel on for all three colors? or is it just on for one of the colors?

Don't know the answer to that. I'll have to check tonight. But based on the way the system was working I suspect all are affected. I know that when I cycled Red, Blue, Green, the last 130 pixels were a different color. I just assumed the last was lit also. If it was different, I'd have noticed.

I do have to think about this 512 vs 510 thing. If I recall, I wasn't able to set the length to 510. Seems to me it kept resetting to 512 but that might have been because I didn't exit properly. e682 uses 510 not 512. V3 used 510 not 512. FPP was set for 512. But even if that was the problem, I'd think it would only affect a couple of pixels.

Pi Needs to be the same as Vixen @510. there is your issue. It will shift all pixels after that by 2 colors (channels)

When you say it like that, it makes sense. ;) The effect is the same but the color is off.

So a Red first pixel in universe 2 should be:

511 (255), 512 (0), 513 (0), but because 511 and 512 are used in the FPP, the FPP sends out the data to 511 and 512, when not used in hardware:
511 (255, not used in hardware), 512 (0, not used in hardware), 513 (0, used in hardware), 514 (255, used in hardware), 515 (0, used in hardware) or green for 1st pixel in the 2nd universe. In fact, I think I was seeing green, instead of red.

it gets confusing because you have "channel numbers" in vixen and fpp using 511, 512, 513 etc but you don't have them in our universes due to hardware limitations. I created a spreadsheet of all my elements which spells out universes and channel numbers. That is very helpful to have

as you can see from the picture this is a break between universe, So between the controller channels, the vixen channel count (running channel count from first to last universe which follows along with the FPP) and universe numbers, it can get confusing
