View Full Version : Choosing a sequence

When I go into the sequence folder of the Vixen program folder from the programs folder on my C: drive and double click a sequence, I get this error.
This is just a guess, but I'm thinking that the .vix file extension is still registered to your 1.1 installation. Since there was no installation program for the 2.0 beta, there was nothing to reset the registration. You should be able to right-click on a .vix file, Open With, Choose Program, and select the correct Vixen.exe.

Makes sense and should work, but don't :( I guess I should just remove Vix1 and see what happens. I have been doing all of my sequencing with Vix 2 anyways. ;)
It's not a big deal, I was just bringing it to attention is all, in case it was linked to a bigger issue. :)
I hate the tech support clichés, but..."It works on my system!" ;)

Yeah, me too... get this, I deleted Vix1 and tried to assign Vix2. I can 'choose' the program and click OK, but then it is like Vix2 doesn't exsist on my computer, it asks me 'what do you want to use to open this file? . LOL Weird huh?
Anyways, it is on my end.... Thanks KC 8)

Okay, I figured out the fix for this problem. KC was correct, it is a problem with the .vix file association. These directions are for Windows XP SP2.
To fix it follow the directions below:
Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer.
Click on Tools, Folder Options
Click on File Types
Scroll down to VIX
Highlight VIX by clicking on it
Click Advanced. If you do not see an Advanced button you will see a Restore button. Click Restore then re highlight VIX, Click Advanced and proceed.
One by one select each of the actions listed except open. Thedre may only be open but if there are more we only need the open action.
Highlight open
Click Edit
Click Browse
Now navigate to the Vixen.exe file in your Vixen 2.0 program folder
Highlight the Vixen.exe file
Click Open
Click OK
Click OK, again
Click Close
Now close out all remaining windows
Navigate to the folder containing your Vixen 2.0 Sequences
Double click on a sequence and Vixen 2.0 should start and open the sequence file.
Good Luck and may the Force be with you!
