This will be an easy question but it has me. Can you use a Ren 24 to dim an olsen 595 64 channel and if so, how many do you need? What wiki do I go study to do all this?

There is a group buy on the ren24 cards that I want to get in on but I am unsure if it works together. Or do I need the 595's. got both 595 cards working last year and now I want more! Why did my wife let me get addicted to this.

Hello John,

To add dimming capability to a 595, you would have to add a REN-C (http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com/wiki/index.php?title=Ren-C) in front of it.

In place of the Ren-T that you see in the drawings, you could use a Ren-24 in front of the Ren-C/ 595 to provide the zero crossing signal for the Ren-C.

You are going to need a Ren-T board (for ZC) and one Ren-C board for each 595 controller to make them dimmable.

Here (http://www.doityourselfchristmas.com/wiki/index.php?title=Renard-595_Converter) is a link to the wiki where the Ren-C is explained and the setup is diagrammed.

** EDIT **
Looks like you beat me to it, rlilly.

If you are planning on using DMX to run your show, then I have a Grinch DMX dimmer board that would also work on the 595 controller and It's a single board solution.
