View Full Version : projecting animated Ghosts in yard

I saw a you-tube video last year I did not bookmark, now cannot find it again. It was a preview of an upcoming halloween show in someone's yard. In the syncronized show, they had green glowing ghosts shooting out of ground in front of tombstones into the air above tombstones...it was great effect, I suspect it was a VGA projector and pane of glass at an angle to the viewer...sadly, I cannot find video any longer, nor any details of how it was done.

Anyone seen any cool effects like this?

I haven't seen the one you are describing, but an effect with a pane of glass is called Pepper's Ghost.

The popping up that I saw was done with cloth around styrofoam balls which were blown into the air with pneumatics. While cool on video, the actual show would have lots of air hisses as ghosts jump up and down.

THink this was Peppers ghost, but was outside in front yard. Was really brilliant bright, and must have been 6 ft tall. He had several in his yard. Really cool effect.
Anyone have video examples of good Peppers Ghost in open enviroment?

here is another one. At 2 minutes 16 seconds. Looks like he is blowing sheets or rags into the air. Maybe an air cannon.

yep from the looks of it, air blasts with the ghosts riding on a thin rod to have them come back down in the right spot.

Great video! thanks for sharing. I may do this...

It's little styrofoam balls glued to a tube and the tube rides on a metal stick as a guide. Compressed air shoots it upwards.

And I don't know the specifics of your show. But be aware this pulse of air makes a very loud HISS when fired. The recordings don't have it but if you are playing music on speakers like most of us, the noise is a problem.
