Good news for all you fellow Aussies who would like to use the Lightkeeper Pro. I got one recently to fix a bunch of 110v US lights that I got a few years ago and out of curiosity I tried it on some 24v & 36v Aus light strings and Bingo, it works like a charm. :D
I had some strings where some banks of 15 lights were not working (Oz lights are wired in series of usually 10 or 15 lights, so if one light fails 10 or 15 go out) Pulled out one bulb, pulled the trigger on th LKP and hey presto all lights came back on except the dead one.
This thing is going to save me a lot of heartache this xmas. Anyone with lots of lights has to have one of these.

Cheers, Terry

terry I read somewhere. when your running you lights its wise to unplug from your controler, plug the dead light set to a regular outlet and than plug in your lightkeeper and fire away. it has ruin a couple of controler when the person just plug it to the dead light set and shot a milliwatt to and thur the controler.

Read through your original post about this Mr Collingwood, but couldn't establish how you actually got one of these. Care to share your secret? ;) Don't worry, not looking to harass 1 particular member if someone got it for you. Also how much did it cost you AU$? Haven't got any dead lights, but could see this being a good investment through the years.

Hi Toodle
A very kind gentleman from this forum who lives in the USA was able to get one for me and send it over. I think the total including shipping was around $25.00 US An absolute bargain if you ask me. I'm sure if you ask nicely there will be somebody over there who will do the same for you.

Cheers, Mr Collingwood

Thanks for the post Terry - I wouldn't have thought the Aussie globes had the shunts. On reflection (and a closer look...), that doesn't make much sense -its just that 24V isn't enough to fuse them.

Another DIYC 'Aha!' moment for me!

Can you tell if the audible continuity tester on the lightkeeper works at the lower voltages as well?

Cheers
Tim

Tim

Unfortunately the audible continuity tester on the lightkeeper doesn't seem to work on 24v. Works fine on 240v and 110v. Oh well, you can't win em all.

Never mind... this device is still on my 'pre-christmas' list!

Thanks for checking it out.
