I have purchased six 4 ft artificial trees this year. At first I was gonna wrap them in dumb nodes, but after adding in ssr's or other controllers to control them I have decided it'll be the same price to just throw pixels on them and just use my 682s. Does anyone have any pictures of artificial trees with pixels or rgb nodes on them? If so, how many lights on each tree. I'm contemplating 100 12v pixels for each tree. Will this be full enough?

Here is a sample video with 35 pixels. Do you guys think 50 will make this tree full enough?

Looks full enough there. With pixels color shifts will be all on in that particular color . I think it looks fine. More won't hurt but not sure it's necessary.

If that's 35, 50 should look good, but I don't know what kind of look you are going for, snow blind or classic Christmas. If it's the latter, mission accomplished.

My first couple years I used some 4 ft white trees. I put 4 70 ct LEDs on them (rgbw), and when any color was lit, the whole tree glowed. Obviously, those pixels are a larger form factor, but just telling you what worked for me.

Here is a video with me running test patterns on a 4 ft tree with I think 35 nodes Sample minitree: http://youtu.be/rw2LNin6tY0

They are not pixels (dumb nodes), but at least you can get an idea of coverage.
These are the 16 - 2 ft white pine variety with 35 on each. The spokes are 50 nodes.
Over on the right you will see the 4ft with 50 nodes and the one 6ft one with 150 nodes.

The white really helps with reflecting the light.

I am making 3' trees now with 50 pixels each. They have no garland on them and are just wire frame. I have no pics yet but I will try to put some up later today.. I did mine in rows because I want them to have a certain look for programming..

Nice Robert !! I want to do same wit RGB pixels. Looking forward to see yours Plasmadrive as I want to be able to chase trough the tree. Are you spiraling the pixels on the mini or in rows like a megatree? I'm also working on the plasma icicles, looks like I will be your copycat [emoji39]
