How to reproduce it:
1. Build Display Group mixed with Pixel Planes and Segments
2. Select group of cells in the grid (include Pixel planes and segments rows)
3. Apply fill effect
4. Select them again
5. Right Click and pick "Chase RGB Colors Vertically"
6. Choose colors in the Wheel Picker and un-check the "Ignore .." option
7. Hit OK

The effect gets applied to segments only. (see attachment)

The Horizontal RGB Chase works fine. Only the Vertical is the problematic one.

That's by design.

The reason it's not allowed is there is no way of knowing what you are trying to accomplish.

With channels and Segments - they are positioned in the Edit grid so chases can be constructed.

By definition -- a PixelPlane is a X/Y grid of pixels that are in a order not defined by display grid position.

I can not see any reasonable way of knowing which pixels in the X/Y grid to perform the action to.

There are other ways of getting a chase on a grid that will result in what you are looking for.

OK. Understood.
I'll create segments of my existing pixel planes.
Thank you for the info.

THAT is the best bet since YOU know which lights to assign to a Segment and where then to place that segment in the Edit Grid to make a Chase.
