Hi,

with a few more designs coming out with the ability to control RGB lights. im wondering if it would be a good idea to be able to combine 3 channels and say that they are a RGB channel. then be able to pick a color and brightness level. save adjusting each channel for each color. so it looks like your controlling 1 multicolor channel instead of 3 seperate channels.

Might need some consistancy in how the channels are controlled etc. but its something i have been thinking about so i thought i would put it up here for other peoples thoughts.

Im talking about things like Jec's pixels and MPH's Spot lights etc.

anyway. discuss

thanks

I have already asked KC about it back when I was finishing the Robo Light. He said he would but it would be the next version of Vixen. I think you are asking for the same thing I am.

My want was to be able to select three channels and make them act as one in the interface so you set it by selecting the event blocks of the one channel and chose your color and intensity from a picker. This would make it a color blending channel but send the three seperate data values out on the three different channels.

yep,

looks like the same thing to me. and yes the rgb spot could use the same type of interface.

i guess what do we call the next version? 2.6 or 3 :)

would be interesting to see where its upto.

thanks for the reply RJ

It would also be useful to have some way of adding dimmer profiles so that you get consistent results from one type of hardware to another. This would make the sequences much more portable (from user to user as well as hardware type to hardware type within one setup).

And, i'd have to add, that not all leds are created equal!! Depending how picky you want to be, you'd need to calibrate each led string.. However unless you are trying to do true-colour video on your leds, you're possibly not going to be too stressed!!

Other nice to have, is to make it a four channel device ( RGB-White ), I can't its just not get a good white colour with low cost rgb leds easily, it always ends up as a pastel off-white color.. ( typically pinkish, sometimes green, never blue! )

Have you tried using the RGBLED Add-In yet? It does basically what I think you want to do except it doesn't combine the 3 channels into 1 channel but keeps them separate.

From some experimentation I did before christmas, RGB is not very easy to work with. It takes alot of trial and error to get colors that you are satisfied with and each RGB board reacts a little differently and needs tweeking to get your colors balanced - YMMV.

I second the request for merging/grouping three RGB channels into one... Of course, direct visual cue as to the state of the RGB channel (i.e. display of color) would be nice, too...

Maybe something can be added to the channel test window to have option to select 3 conselctive channel and have three more slides appear that are assigned to those channels that would get you a main slider for intensity and three to preform realworld mixing????/

I must admit. the ability to be able to select 3 seperate test channels would be great.

the rgb picker addin is cool but it doesnt represent the true color you will get on you perticular rgb device.

maybe an update to it to allow it to adjust the colors indepentantly.
