I'm getting all of my SSR's put together, as well as a couple of spares. I'm also planning on some spare parts. Here's my question:

I'm ordering a bunch of 6 pin sockets for the SSR's I'm building from Jameco (http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/catalogs/c281/P109.pdf) ($.066 vs. .11), and thought extra fuses are a good idea, too.

The problem is that the fuses recommended in the BOM are 5A 125V medium blow, and the closest I can come to that from Jameco is 5A 250V either in a fast or slo blow. Link (http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/catalogs/c253/P85.pdf)

Will these puppies work?? I know they'll fit, but should I be looking at 2.5A @ 250V (I=E/R)??

Been a long time since I had Ohm's law out! ;)

I would like someone else to confirm, but I beleive the GMA-5-R is a suitable replacement.

I would go with the slo-blow, especially if you are dimming. They get somewhat of a jolt everytime the triacs turn on mid-cycle, and a fast-blow may die prematurely. Based on past experience (a switching power supply) I'd try for sand-filled if possible as well.

It doesn't work that way here. Go for a 5A fuse.

I haven't looked at the ones that Wayne J recommended, so I don't have any comment there.

Thanks, Wayne & Phil. I did a little more digging, and found my answer.

From Littelfuse: "A fuse may be used at any voltage that is less than it's voltage rating without detriment to it's fusing capabilities."

So a 250v fuse protects as well as a 125v.

I'll go for the slo-blo.
