My Allegro chips came in today (free samples). I am waiting for my Ebay Cat5 panel to arrive for the grinch. So, I'm thinking I'll build a few SSR's so I can start playing. I start looking through my mouser order and realize that when I deleted the rj45's for the grinch bom I also deleted them for the SSR's. After that I called my buddy who said I could have his old computer only to find that he gave it away already (i never said I wanted it for sure). Duh!!! Some days it doesnt pay to get out of bed. Now I need to order rj45's and find a computer with a paralel port. I was starting to think I was getting close.

This is weird!

Buzz, welcome to the MUG! (moron's user's group) I've been a member ever since I saw that dang Carson Williams video...

Dont worry Jeff,

If they are the wide ones, just cut them into strips.

Thats what I did.lol

I, on the other hand, ordered the correct 24 pin sockets for my Allegro chips, but I also ordered those same correct 24 pin sockets for my 18 pin ULN2803A's

Luckily, it doesn't bother me a bit to fold over the last three pins on the socket, and solder the rest in the holes!

Can I join too.

The parts list said 1 or .1 uf cap so thats what I ordered.

I don't think its going to fit.

I like ordering resistors and caps from allelectronics.
Sometimes less selection is a good thing.

If it makes any of you feel better, I ordered the wide 24 pins as well. Instead of cutting them, I just used a combination of 1 16 pin and 1 8 pin for each Allegro. They work like a charm on 2 Grinches. After all we're DIY not Phi Beta Kappa.

HA, I can do better than that, my first order to futurlec, I wanted 70 330ohm 1/4W 5% Carbon Film Resistors, I got 700, seems they come in packets of 10. oops.

When I was in the U.S. Navy my boss gave me a list of supplies we needed to order including 4 8" pipe wrenches and I ordered a 48" pipe wrench. That puppy was heavy.

This is what I did on the first one I made. I had a bunch of leftovers of both. I will use the wide one cut up when the new Grinch board gets here. Just to try something different. Will post pictures then...

I needed a new sponge for my soldering iron so I ordered 10 so that I would have a few spares. Seems they come in packs of 10 and now I have a few extra spares.

You guys are something else. I suggest you go to Planet Christmas and adopt the 'stuck Santa' animated gif as your logo....er....badge of honor.

PS I've not had this problem lately. But is has happened in the past. (further back than I can remember)

ok I made a giant mistake. I triple checked my BOM's but I checked it with the wrong one in the Wiki. I orderd 4 screw down terminals per Ren24 not 8. Its $156 worth of parts left out. I am going to order them and get them here as fast as I can. I'll never make that mistake again! I just need to see if I have that much!!!

Ben, You have my sympathy. It happens to everyone eventually. I'm really sorry it caught up with you on the coop, which is a larger scale. Looks like you're well on your way to the solution though.

Well, I have been living by a couple mottos:

there's those who have messed up a mouser order and those who will

there are those who have Cato'd a rocket motor and those who will

Then there are those who are doomed from the start
