The new BOM listed a 25v capacitor. I just received this part and it does not fit on the board. The holes are too small. Also the capacitor is too big around to fit close to the board. It would need to be left up to go over the diodes D3,D4 and possibly U3 & U4.
All that said, what is the suggestion? Do I have the correct part?

hmmm, I thought it was a 16v part, but the BOM does list a 25v cap. Well, I see two options, one is wait and see what Phil thinks about the 16v cap. ( that one should fit well) or.... you will have to drill the board out and leave the cap up off the board to clear the diodes and to be able to solder the + side of the cap, which is on the top layer. I would wait to see what Phil says first though.

It doesn't need to be 25V, I'm not sure how that got in there. A 16V part is fine, and I need to change the BOM.

I tag a little to this thread if thats okay?
Does anyone have an Assembly how-to or is it straight forward?

Since there are no optional parts, just use the BOM posted in the Wiki. It lists all the parts, and where they go.

Phil, I have some extra capacitors from the Renard XB I didn't use. These are 16volt. will they work on the Renard XC? The Mouser part # is 140 XRL16V1000-RC. Thanks for any help. Jerome

No, they are way too small.

So it is my understanding that the 25volt Capaciter that was in the BOM that I accidently got will work if it can be made to fit on the board. Is this correct? Thanks, Jerome

It really is best to get the correct one. The modifications to do that is only begging for trouble.

Wayne, My thought was to file the capaciter leads just small enough to fit. I wasn't going to drill the board and take that risk. The capaciter is of no use to me if it isn't used. I would be worth messing with if it actually will function. Then I could test my board unstead of ordering one part from mouser. Jerome

The value is too small...if it were just the physical size I would have said to use it and bend the leads.

Phil, In my last post I was refering to the 25V that was in the BOM. I'm wasn't sure if you caught that. Jerome
